Well guys, I bolted on my OBX Long Tube Header and Magnaflow Hi-Flow Cat. It's way way way way too loud, my previous exhaust was stock w/ a straight piece in place of the muffler.
OBX LTH
I'm curious what you guys recommend for a good sounding setup thats not too too loud but still barks. I've been looking around for some muffler options that I could weld into the midpipe.
Suggestions on an affordable muffler/brand? I can't seem to find any sound clips of different brands
paired with a long tube header
Thanks -Ryan
*edit* - yes it's ear-cracking, basically running an open header, not even a good sound, just honduh rasp from 2500rpm up

Too... loud... ?
I have a CherryBomb Glasspack in the mid-pipe and it's too quiet, so that's an option.

I had a cherry bomb in the mid pipe with a short tube, oem cat and it was way too loud for me. Loudness is only as accurate as the person's opinion, and most time's that person's opinion is an officer of the law.
If you hate it now, I doubt a GP is going to cut it. A good chambered muffler is about the only thing that will help out with the honduh rasp, and it is still going to be there. Under certain conditions, I get serious rasp with my Mag header. That's with a QuietFlow camaro muffler, and a resonator in the midpipe.
The brutal truth is you are going to need a decent muffler in the rear section. Just look at all the "My SRT rear section is too loud" threads. And those are with the stock exhaust manifold in most cases.

I'm gonna slip my oem muffler on tomorrow afternoon to see how much it quiets this system down to get an idea of how much sound I need to muffle.
Thank you for your input guys now & in the past, much appreciated!

I put the oem muffler back on thank god. Its now back to quiet until I can get a decent muffler on it.
I'm trying to decide between a Moroso, Vibrant, Borla, or Magnaflow muffler. Any recommendations for a good sound?

Go for a big magnaflow. Something with an offset inlet/outlet. Unless you want to go dual tipped like an srt then get a camari style one.

So many neons so little time.

I'm curious why you recommend an offset inlet/outlet. Just looking to weld a muffler in the midpipe and keep my straight axle single out the back exit.

Basically, so the sound isn't blowing straight through. There isn't going to be a lot of good options for something in the midpipe. There not enough room to get a large enough muffler under there, to deal with the LTH noise level.

just to help but my heartthrob resonator in the center section of my SRT REALLY quieted down the noise. but it is a straight 3" in/out, but its 36" long.

I just wanted to follow up with you guys - I put a 24" Flowtech Red Hot "resonator/glasspack" in my mind pipe. The car is still very loud but not much louder than I was running with my previous setup. Under normal driving conditions the sound isn't loud loud until you open it up.
There's a lot of cracking while warming the car up but most of it is gone & actually has a decent exhaust note once the engine is warm. I also purchased a 15" resonator to put in the rear section with a tip out the back. I slipped it on the pipe and gave it a few revs to see if it would help but it didn't seem to make much of a difference at all. It may be a better improvement when it's actually clamped on the pipe, it loosely fit on when I slipped it on to check it.
Thank you for your assistance guys, I'll have to make some sound clips!

Depending on how you feel about it, you could put a fartcan on the rear. With the big resonator in the mid pipe, and the can out back, pushing the exhaust past the bumper, you wont hear as much, and it'll have a decent tone.

So many neons so little time.
