Strut Mounts

Have some questions about how to achive better handling and stopping power using different springs, upgrading to coilovers, questions on swaybars, bushings, different rotors, pads, ect... Having any steering problems or questions about steering racks, tie rods, tie rod ends, ect... ask these questions here.

Strut Mounts

Can someone tell me how to check strut condition and also the strut mounts...what does a bad mount act like? i have been having a clunking sound and took it to the shop and had it looked over and they said all joints looked good (lca,tie rods,end links)and so forth..what they didnt say anything about is the strut mounts and the struts..the car seems to steer good with no shake and no wander...at any speed but when i hit a bump there is a metal to metal sound ..how do i explain...hmmm lets say you have a six inch bolt with a oversized nut in the middle and one just threaded on the end and you shake it and the oversized bolt hits the top and bottem..im sorry for that explanation but thats what it sounds like to me...the ride is a little more rough than it use to be...has 76,000 miles on it..everything is stock..ant thoughts would be great...thank you
