No body cares about other peoples property

Post by Alex Kurdian » Fri Sep 10, 2010 8:34 am

Ok so I'm driving to work and I notice something funny with the drive...taking it as I need a coffee and my brains not working...I ignore the odd feeling...I get to work and by chance i looked at my funky parking and notice a big frigging nail in my driver wheel...slowly getting less and less... I have a puncture...YAY...my first puncture EVER!!!

So call the local tire place and they can fix the hole for about 30 bucks...Done....I get there and say ...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't scratch my mags as its happened before...take ur time and do it proper...

They are like yes yes yes don't worry...it will be ok....

2 F**KING minutes later the guys rocks up....ohhh sorry mate I scratched them...what a f@#king dope asshole... I almost smacked him in the head...I said like 2 minutes ago be god damn careful...you don't give a shit cause its not yours...WTF...:banghead:

So I 'm taking my car down to a place that sprayed them originally for me ...They will re spray them for free as the tire place it paying...ok so it will get fixed at no cost to me but F@#K no one gives a shit about anything these days unless its theirs.... a job that should have cost them 30 bucks now will cost them 230...Friggin losers all they have done is inconvenienced me...plus the fuel cost to get there and back...I will be driving for a week with my ugly steel spare tire on...

The story is no one give a rats ass about somebody else's property...

I feel for you. I always have to stand and watch while my tires are rotated since, no matter how many times I've told the mechanics to hand torque my Mopar wheel locks to avoid damaging them (and voiding the warranty), inevitably they will try to use the power tools anyway. :cussing:

i would not have paid for the puncture since they inconvenienced you in addition to them repairing the scratch.

torque sticks are finicky though, and if they don't check them often they will be out of spec (torque wrenches are the same way i guess). I'm with you gramps it doesn't take any time at all to hand torque, its just laziness. they don't FEEL like going and getting a torque wrench.

Man that sucks like a Hoover on high! They hate me at tire stores and garages, gotta be right there watching them. I put good money in my car and if they screw it up after asking them to be careful.......it's time to open up a 55 gallon drum of whoop ass! Why is it mechanics can't respect us, or for that matter, our cars? Glad they are making an attempt to make things right.

I might be able to give you some insight from the other side of the stick. I've seen a lot of people damage customer property in my time working in the field, and almost every time it's the same guys fucking up. Some people are just careless and/or too stupid to know any better. It's no different than going to a Burger King and getting a delicious meal, then getting the same meal at another BK and it tasting like shit. There are shitty employees in every trade, and they affect the entire reputation of the industry. Worse yet, repair shops these days are getting into the 'cheap labor' mindset, which means less qualified techs working on your car. It's hard to tell the good places from the bad ones, so to be honest, it's best to stick with the dealerships and only go to private shops if you trust them or have heard that they are legit from a trusted source. Simple as that.

As for mechanics and what not..I now have the best mechanic I found through a friend of mine at my gym who was sick to death with dodgy mechanics as well...finally someone I can trust...and he absolutely loves how I keep my car clean and tidy...he respects it highly...

The problem is he is limited to what he can do...he cannot do wheel balancing...things like that...everything else he can do...

I should have taken a picture of my wheel scratch for you guys that bozo really stuffed it up in 2 places...not little ones but deep and shitty ugly scratches....And I need to clarify guys he scratched it when he was taking the tire off with the machine...don't ask me how but somehow he f@#ked it right up...

Quoted for Truth. :withstupid:

While we're on this topic.....

I think that I have heard of only one tire shop, actually REFUSING to take a mount and dismount job.
Some tire machines, are not 'friendly' to custom wheels.

I suppose that a RESPONSIBLE shop owner or manager, should at least explain, "Yes, we can do this..... but there is a chance that xxxx might occur."
OR they can flat-out refuse the job, saying that, "our tire machines don't work well with custom rims".

But when you have a shop run by a Low-Rent, Low-Buck, Low-Pay corporate chain, you get Dunderheads who lack the judgement to say, 'No', when it's necessary.
I've seen too many shops, and businesses, who are just too scared to say, "NO".

I would rather have them be up-front and refuse the job, rather than say yes, just to take my money, AND screw up the job, anyways.

Two weeks ago my friend went to get new tires and told them not to lay the rims face down and they agreed. He then proceeds to watch them THROW the first one face down, putting two huge black scratches in them. Lets just say he got free tires.

This was at a very reputable shop too, they just so happened to hire the wrong guy so you never know now-a-days...

Let me make this short and sweet.

My car went in for service several times in the past few months for various problems (water pump and the timing was off as a result of the water pump replace) Well, I was walking out to my car and I noticed my lower motor mount insert was MISSING, washer and all. Freaking mechanics can't put shit back together the way they found it. :cussing: :cussing: :cussing:
