Carbon Fiber Question
Carbon Fiber Question
Hey guys i wanted to know a few things bout carbon fiber laminates.
Are they flexible? almost like vinyl flooring.
If they are flexible what is used to harden a peice... Like a resin body filler?
I am just wondering
Thanx

Real Carbon Fiber starts out as a woven Fabric just like fiberglass.
it is placed in layers into a mold, and then resin is added.
The mold is then placed into a vacuum chamber and when finished, the resin is hardened and the piece is formed.
From that point, the part goes through a series of buffing/polishing steps to give it the gloss look.
Hope that helps.

I guess technically it would be possible....but I would NOT recommend it. b/c of the way the CF fabric is.....if it is not vacuum formed it will not be strong. There will also be major imperfections in the weave and resin coat including bubbles in the resin, and distortion of the weave.Sparky828 wrote:ok so question... oculd u do this urself with jsut the cf and the resin?
We are in the process of making lots and lots of different CF pieces for 2nd Gen Neons as well as SRT-4 parts...interior and exterior.
Just let me know what you are looking for.
