Motor mounts

Post by cooljud33 » Tue Sep 21, 2010 5:11 pm

First off i am by no means a car expert...My question is when i have my buddy sit in my 04 sxt and hold the brakes and shift into drive then into reverse..just how much travel should the motor have? im thinking there is a bit muchrocking from front to rear..also
when in reverse there is some vibration..any thoughts?
I also wanted to add that everything is stock...

At idle, there shouldn't be more than a couple inches at most. If the rubber is in good shape, (no tears or huge cracks) you could get some inserts to "tighten" it back up.

How many miles are on it?

Edit: Once you get the mounts (torque struts) in good shape, by replacing or installing inserts, follow this for minimal vibration: viewtopic.php?t=43837

At those miles, the rubber is prolly getting tired. ATX's are still rough on mounts, maybe not so much as MTX's have the potential to be, but I know I had to replace the ones in the Sundance at a lot lower mileage. But then those sucked from day one. Glad they left that set up with the 1gn's.
