LED's In Tailamps

hey Guys
I currently use the stock bulbs for my brake lights...reverse...etc......has anyone tried using LED's ?? by that I mean are they brighter and look better than stock bulbs?

I haven't done this but have heard people talk about it. You will need a flasher unit to stop the ricer flash.....flashes really fast with stock flasher. Some of the led sites sell them. Not sure if that is the right bulb but if it converts to the stock bulb number it should work. The smd bulb is the one most people use. You have to pay attention to the wattage to match factory bulbs.
and they have to be wide angle iirc. You may need to go led in the park/turn signals. As for the reverse lights, I don't think there would be an issue. Before you do anything tho, you might want to ask someone like lil spark plug. She IS the led guru, lol, and will be in my opinion your best source of info.

I was running 1W leds for my brake lights for about a year. I liked them a lot, but just removed them due to a citation by a police officer at 3 am.
Basically they are great if you fix the ricer flash

And why would the cops do that to ya if they work?

ever had a turn signal out how it flashes super quick with a led it does that thats "ricer flash" theres a relay that most car led sites sell to remidy this though

Yes "ricer flash" is the turn signals flashing very quickly as if a bulb is out. The leds are so low in resistance that the car believes they are non-functional.
There are several ways of fixing this, like installing resistors. The problem with resistors is that they heat up, and can be potentially unsafe due to fire hazard. Lsp had devised a way to fix it without these, but I never tried it.
I was cited because my turn signals were flashing too quickly, which is a legitimate concern. I actually bought a resistor set too, but was too lazy to install it.
Honestly I think the cop just wanted a reason to search my car. It was 3:00 am and I'm a college student so...
