Passenger Side Motor Mount (The One In The Frame)

Post by Mootz » Fri Oct 01, 2010 6:31 pm

Hey everyone I need help. I need to change the right motor mount and have not figured out how to do it. My guess would be to pull the aluminium Bracket that mounts all the pulleys and the tensioner. Then jack up the motor and pull the mount. But I know you have to lower and raise the motor to get to some of the bolts in that bracket. Have a chiltons manual but its useless on this. I know someone on here has had to of done this before. Just looking for a short walk through on it so I don't do more than I have to. Thanks,

Jamey

No, the actual mount, not the torque strut. You can't change it without removing the motor. There are 4 bolts on the inside of the engine compartment holding it on.

You CAN remove it without removing the motor.

The aluminum bracket on the engine needs to be removed, then there's enough room to get at the bolts and remove the mount that's bolted to the frame.

Yea, I suppose that works too. I absolutely hate working on that side of the motor.

I just took the torque struts off, (halfway) and pulled the trans mount, center through bolt, and with the floor jack under the engine, and another under the trans, I lowered the trans to clear the frame and slide the assy to the driver side enough to get the mount out. Either way, it is a PITA. Took me about an hour.
