So I need a new cat converter..

So I need a new cat converter..

Post by Johny » Sat Oct 02, 2010 11:09 am

I went into the shop today to see why my car was rattling in reverse and when stationary. Turns out I need a new cat & flex pipe. I have it welded for the time being, but I plan on putting a new one in later. Any suggestions on any aftermarket cats? Btw its for an 04 sx2.0 ATX

Thanks in advance!

Since the flex part is prolly damaged, any direct fit cat will do. A universal requires welding your existing pipe to the new cat. Itf the exisiting pipe is shot, then you need a direct fit. RockAuto.com sells a direct fit. I got the Magnaflow, but I am not really impresses with the flange design. The oem is a better flowing flange. If your flange is in solid shape, you could have a flex coupler welded to it, then a good high flow cat after that. It is what I would have done had I known how bad the MF design was.

Spend the money, get a metallic core cat. It will flow better, and take more abuse than a ceramic cat. You will not find a direct fit high flow cat.
