2gn coupe..hopefully still researching..
.ok so ive been thinking.. not to sure im in the "researching" stage of my car.. my back two doors are acting funny (backing in a 1500 chevy) and i need to replace the trunklid and bumper..anyways was thinking.. since this car is going up on blocks for a long time..and im stripping the interior and getting a moonroof.. why not make it a 2gn coupe since im also gonna throw a roll cage in it....so im guessingthat it would be alot of work becuase i just dont want to weld the back doors shut but actully move the middle pillars back about a foot so i could have longer front doors fabbed up and it would make it a much more "true" coupe..what do you guys think should i take it to a shop? or i could get it done since i have quite a few friends that have alot of EXP in this area and they have thier own equipment...just a thought..
btw im sure im getting the front doors fabbed up by a real professional..lol

It's a lot easier if you are converting a 4 door car (like a wagon) to a coup when you can get an existing coup door. Not gonna happen with a 2gn without major work and custom glass. The welding would be the easiest part, it's the fitting up that's gonna kill ya.

go park next to a 1st gen and compare. In the neon, or sport compact world, this is an extreme if not nearly impossible task. But if you ever pick up a copy of minitruckin' magazine, the sky is the limit. It is possible with some seriously experienced fabrication and probably a little math, or you can easily destroy your car. Look into the minitruckin' or hot roddin' world online and look for fabrication shops near you, like in phoenix. You could probably shorten the rear body in a couple of inches too. But it will be a pain and you can't mess with your frame, maybe change the mounting points.

you could probably go get your "umadbro" polished up to make it look like a new comeback againtitansxt wrote:I hear the whats it called, Dodge Neon, is a good car.

Stratus doors would never work, the lines don't even come close to matching. You would need a donor Neon shell to extend the door sill and the rear part of the new door jamb, and for an extra set of doors to cut up for. The real hard part would be the trim, having custom glass cut would be cake compared to setting up the trim around both the side window and the new quarter glass.
If any of you are familiar with vwvortex.com's Project X you will know this was done to a mk4 Jetta. They had the luxury of using Golf doors and jambs, in fact they actually used the entire Golf chassis and floor pan, welding the Jetta roof and quarter panels to it. I've actually seen that car up close a couple times, extremely well done.
To have it done at a shop would be a TON of money. Like used Z06 ton of money. I would not recommend attempting this on your own either unless you have some one with SERIOUS welding and sheetmetal skills, and a good knowledge of unibody vehicle construction. Do you really want a 2 door 2nd gen that bad?
