First mod!!!

Post by SXTwolfe » Sat Oct 02, 2010 10:19 pm

here are pics of the process of my first "mod". there are quotations because it needed to happen but it was changed lol

Image this is the start. huge dent and crack tail light.

Image went out and ripped this bumper off a car in a junkyard for 50$. it has been sanded and primered.

Image at this point the primer has dried and the first coat of flat black was applied.

Image both original tail lights have been removed and i have started on the bumper

Image bumper and tail lights completely removed.

Image driver side tail light completely installed and the bumper is partially installed.

Image this is the entire process completed. started about 11:30am with the bumper for sanding and primer ect ect and the finally finished around 4pm. took awhile but this is the first time i have done this and also had to go buy new bolts as some were rusted and snapped.
Tools needed'
1 can auto primer
2 cans flat black (auto again)
220 grit sand paper
hex bit
flat head
philips head
13mm deep socket (this one was to remove tail lights and they have weird plastic "nuts" that stripped with a regular wrench)
10mm deep socket

Nice write up and good job. Now all ya have to do is get it painted. Even in primer it looks much better.

OUCH! about the damage but  for your fix. I am partial to the non-bumper boob look of the pre-'03s.

lol the bumper is painted. i am going with the flat black look. if you look at the pics i believe that the second pic of just the new bumper it states the first coat of black was applied. at this point im planning on doing the front bumper as well and then some of the trim on the sides of the car. also the lights will be smoked.
