Will this tire fit on stock 14 rim

Post by badgett » Tue Oct 05, 2010 2:21 pm

I currently have 185/70R/14 tires on my car. I want to get 215/60/14 tires. I have used tire calulators on the internet and the only difference is the 215 is 1.2 inches wider than the 185. Every other dimension is almost exactly the same between the two. Will this extra width fit?

don't know, but I can offer this... here's a pic of the tire clearance I have on that rear strut bar... and I'm running 205/50/16's on rims with a pretty much standard off-set ..38

That's pretty tight. I guess I will have one test fit to see what happens. The reason I want to go to 215's is because I want white letters. That would be different.

Greg Crum had raised letters.

I'm trying to remember his username to search for it. He just had 15" wheels and normal sized tires.

I know 195/60-14 will fit with no problems. I think you will be fine. Remember, half of the width will be to the inside, and half to the out side, unless the offset is changed. So you are only looking at .6ish inch difference in clearance.

I ran those with 6" wide wheels also. If you have alloys, they should be 6 inch. Steelies are 5.5

Unfortunately I could not find any pics of Greg's (MoparKnighthawk) car.

I don't know about 215/60/14, but I have been running 205/60/14 on all of my Neons, they fit great.

I suspect you might start running into clearance issues with 215's, going around turns.

I would love to go with the 205's. I have to see if I can find white letters in that size. Nickko , do you have a pic of one of your cars with the 205's on it ?

I know that BF Goodrich offers the 'Traction T/A' in a 205/60 R14 size, but I don't know if these are available lettered.
