Post by half_twisted » Wed Nov 30, 2005 10:56 pm

does anyone know if taking the secondaries off the magnum intake would help gain hp or hurt it. it would make sense to do it so the intake can have full air flow to the engin. wht do yo uguys think.

There is a big discussion about it on here somewhere... it'll hurt hp.

Image

left shows how it normally works.

right snows it fully closed all the time (red) and in blue it shows it open all the time. red you keep midrange but lose top end, blue you lose midrage but gain top end. with them fuctioning properly you get the best of both worlds

you would lose low end torque and probably gain nothing, the manifold is designed that way to improve performance, not to hold it back...

So that chart could be variable for its opening/closing due to the magnum's exhaust end (both head, header, and differant muffler). But im sure it doesnt change much from the base to magnum engine.
