sad news in the srt community

Post by 2003silverneonsxt » Thu Dec 01, 2005 1:48 pm

On Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at approximately 2:50 a.m. Two men - one from Burlington and another from Versailles, Ind. - are dead and two other people are hospitalized after an early morning crash in Burlington which investigators believe involved alcohol and excessive speed.
The 31-year-old Burlington man driving the Dodge Neon and the 27-year-old Versailles man, who was a front-seat passenger, were dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 3 a.m. at the intersection of Limaburg Road and Production Drive in Burlington, the Boone County Sheriff's Department deputies said. Two rear-seat passengers were injured.
Sheriff's department spokesman Deputy Tom Scheben said the car was southbound on Limaburg Road when the driver - who has not been identified - apparently lost control of the car, which flipped and slammed into a utility pole at Production Drive. Scheben said investigators are still trying to determine how fast the car was traveling before it crashed and ejected all the passengers.
"The driver was trapped and the front passenger was ejected through the sun roof," Scheben said of the two men killed in the crash.
"It was the (accident investigator's) opinion that excessive speed and alcohol were contributing factors."
Scheben said a rear-seat passenger, Anastacio Hernandez Flores, 39, of Houston, Texas, suffered head injuries and was taken to University Hospital in Cincinnati. The other rear-seat passenger, Shawna Chadwell, 26, of Burlington, was also taken to University. Their conditions were not known this morning.
The identities of the two dead men were withheld pending notification of their families. The crash remains under investigation.
The driver, a 31 year old man from Burlington, was trapped in the car and pronounced dead at the scene. The front passenger, a 29 year old man from Versailles, Indiana was ejected through the sunroof and pronounced dead at the scene. Both rear passengers were ejected from the car also. Shawna Chadwell, 26 of Burlington, Kentucky and Anastacio Hernandez Flores, 39 of Houston, Texas were transported. Chadwell was driven with non life-threatening injuries and Flores was flown with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators are of the opinion that excessive speed and alcohol were contributing factors to the accident.

I'm not an ass like this, I just lost a friend to the war in Iraq so I know its difficult to loose some one, anyone....But they say drinking was involed....Why? Why drink and drive? What if that guy killed another person outside of his car. Would we still feel as sorry for him. I mean, I'm sorry he died, it sucks, but drinking and driving we all know does not work. What does it take for people to learn?

R.I.P Jeff.
Ironic, also the name of my friend who was killed.

yeah I feel sorry for the loved ones that are mourning for them cause I have lost my mother to suicide so I know how much it hurts when you loose them real quick but I mean yeah they were drinking and driving it just shows you people who still do it that it isn't worth it!

Please don't let this happen again and again like I keep on hearing on the forums I go onto STOP DRINKING AND DRIVING!

sorry had to yell it.

From what I've been hearing over at SRTForums and SRT4mation is that Phil wasn't drinking(or didn't drink IDK), but had a very heavy left foot.

this I am sure will piss alot of people off, but i dont feel a damn bit sorry for him wether he was drinking or not. Either way he was being reckless with the lives of his passengers and anyone that could have been around. Sometimes we pay dearly for the actions we take. I only feel sorry his family and the families of the passengers that now have to go through this. They were innocenct bystanders until the wreckless actions of this person tossed their lives into havoic.

I could be wrong, but can't the coroner determine if there was an alcohol content in his blood?

And yes, it's sad for the families of the people that died as a result of this. But I'm going to have to agree with whoever posted it earlier, he shouldn't have been driving with a heavy right foot with three other passengers in the car. And this is why. Cause not only did he affect his family, but the family and friends of the others in the car.

If he was drinking....I hate to be an ass too, but that's what you get.

Only thing worse than drinking and driving is having a lead foot while drinking and driving... Hate to say it, but soudns like he had it coming. People need to use their brains more, I mean if u know ur gonna go and drink, dont drive, take a taxi.

My deepest sympathies to the surviving family members.

I've climbed thru several members' colons here and over at MWN for DUI and street racing.....

My friends at Burlington F.D. are still going thru CISD over this crash.
