alright this is what i was wondering. this actually helps... i knew what it standed for but as i stated in my question post there are alot of conflicts of ideas on whether or not the NGC actually helps or hinders. i am going to have to replace it later on this summer anyway when i do a tranny swap into a stickZeroChad wrote:In the real world. It actually maintains a much better mpg than the older ecu due to the wideband 02 reading, and closer monitoring of sensors.

Why do you have to replace the NGC system for a transmission swap?SXTwolfe wrote:alright this is what i was wondering. this actually helps... i knew what it standed for but as i stated in my question post there are alot of conflicts of ideas on whether or not the NGC actually helps or hinders. i am going to have to replace it later on this summer anyway when i do a tranny swap into a stickZeroChad wrote:In the real world. He won't be replacing "NGC", just ATX to MTX pcm's.

This was asked, or someone was going to attempt it a while ago, but AFAIK, there was no follow up. If it could be done for $100ish, it would be the way to go, original PCM is retained, and there is no searching.Donkeypuncher wrote:Can't the pcm just be flashed to MTX firmware?
What I am not sure about is the VSS signal. The pulses per mile may be different between the two, and that might not be able to be changed by a re flash. The 41te uses the parking sprag notches for the signal, vs the hall effect? sensor that the MTX uses. I would almost bet the ATX signal has more pulses per revolution. It is basically comparing say a 7" diameter tone wheel to a 1" tone wheel. I'm not sure they could pack as many "notches" into the lesser area. Just a S.W.A.G. tho.
I was only able to find the pulses per mile for the 41te: 8000 PPM (IIRC).
