Quick question for fogless 03+ with CAI

For anyone with a fog light-less SXT, are there plastic plates behind the side vents of the front bumper, or is it a true grill like the center? Anyone have a cold air intake behind there? Any problems with water ingestion (yes, this is another paranoid CAI thread, but if the SXT bumper is hollow, then I should have no trouble running without the foglight in the rain tomorrow)?

the bumper has nothing blocking it it is a true vent... had a cold air for a while and had no problem with it... however that was in CA but even still its on the opposite side of the shoulders which is where water generally accumulates so imo i dont think there should be much worry in that...

highly doubt lack of a fog light is going to have much effect.. most of the water would be splashing up from the ground that would be injested into the intake. Don't drive through puddles or standing water and you'll be fine.

With the foglight bumper and a cai my filter gets wet everytime I wash the car so I plug the vents up infront of it when I wash.

Unless you put the filter in the water you'll be fine.

Yeah but you had a thread to sell the ones you had leftover last year but then no one ever heard back from you. I was one of the people that wanted one.

hmm this makes me wonder. there is a sizable piece of foam that blocks part of my middle vents (lower middle section). but as for where the fog lights are suppose to be there is nothing at all. only thing i found on mine was a metal box where the current stock intake goes down to. not sure if i should remove it or just leave it???

Cool, thanks everyone. It's currently an APC filter so if I wasn't worried about water ingestion, I was thinking about the crappy filter disintegrating.

It should be plastic on the side, actually. If you have a CAI remove it. If you have the stock filter box it's up to you on whether or not to remove it.

Basically, it's a box that the air routes through to calm the air charge and not give you the intake growl you get with a CAI. It's a good 8-10 pounds IIRC, so removing it is a pretty good idea if you're not using it.
