Transmission lost 4th and needs replaced

Post by DoubtedNeon » Thu Oct 21, 2010 8:31 pm

So now with the money I WAS gonna use to put coilovers on my car with I'm buying another trans. Should I just get another cable setup or do hydrolic? I have all winter. Thoughts?[/list]

Interesting, mine is an early '01, and it is hydraulic. To go hydraulic, you would need the section of firewall from a hydro car to mount the master cylinder to. You could always get a t350 HD, and just swap bell housings.

I'd get a 3.94 1gn trans. Stay cable, less stuff breaks.

Hydro setup isn't going to keep the trans from breaking.

Do like they said, get an 03+ trans, and use your bellhousing. HD trans are stronger.

I prefer hydraulic, but It's not worth the trouble to change really.

Hydraulic can make more pressure allowing to run bigger pressure plates without breaking your foot and the cable.

Hydraulic is adjustable. I don't think cable is?

Idk I'm sure there are more.

Then you'll have to change over to hydraulic because I don't think you can swap the bellhousings.

Yeah, you'll have to go hydraulic. Also, what axles will you use? The 2gn axles won't fit in the srt trans, and the srt's half shaft setup won't fit on the 2.0 block.

Dam colt sux that this happened to you.....wish you were closer I know of at least 2 yards near me(somewhat) that have 03+ 5 speed trans w/ decently low mileage. I just finally picked mine up a couple weeks ago....

damn, ya i thought about the srt trans setup but theres no reason to get it. ill end up paying more for a trans and all the extra crap that I dont need to deal with. Im gonna get another 2nd gen trans and just use the cable bellhousing. I kinda like the feel i get with a cable clutch.
