is there a better way to adjust the shifter cable on the left of the shifter besides trial and error after installing booger bushings

There is a spring in the trans that is supposed to help return the shifter to a "neutral" position. Problem is that it's not very strong. The later T-355 had a stiffer spring but no one is going to open up the trans just to change that one spring. Later model T-350s didn't have the casting on the trans to drop a 1/4" drill bit down to help with the alignment of the cross-over. All you can do is try to get the shifter to sit in a neutral position and centered the best you can, then tighten the screw on the cable under the shifter. There is no other way besides a little trial and error after that.

Boy howdy! This was a real pita when I changed my bushings to boogers. As was said, you just have to keep trying. Mine still has probs occasionally.
