PCM question

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Welcome to the site.

You will need either an '01 or '02 R/T pcm.

If you can find an AF/X, or regular pcm it would work also, but the MTV,or butterflies will not function.

A regular pcm also will not have the same available fuel, or timing curves.

If you have the grey key, the pcm will need flashed to the SKIM code, and the VIN.

There may be some used R/T pcms floating around, you just need to be patient. You could post in the WTB section for one.

PCM Issue

Post by g_force58 » Sat Oct 23, 2010 11:15 am

OD is correct but if you want to go the AFX pcm route, howellautomotive.com has them for $390 with a $150 core charge until you send your pcm to them. Just to let ya know where the AFX can be found.

True. Except unless anything has changed.....you should plan on it taking 2-6 MONTHS to get a PCM after you send your's in. In case you want to try that route. It most likely will not be expedient.

need some help with my 2001 rt

Post by moparjeff » Wed Oct 27, 2010 12:26 am

i just got this thing ,it has 87000 miles on it ,was a good deal and i jumped. now the car does run good ,but i have a engine light on that coded a p0601 pcm issue, things i have noticed driving the car, when i shift the rpms race up, twice now i have got in it and turned the key and nothing, voltages all good, pushed clutch in a few more times an started, sometimes in neutral, rpms race up,also in 5th gear running 65 this thing tacts about 3100, are these things geared that low? could all of this be my pcm? also i have grey keys, and how much should i expect to pay for a used pcm? thanks so much for the help, im a new neon guy ,but old time mopar guy

yeah with that code i would probably agree your pcm is shot, although the part where you said it was taching 3100 going 60mph is normal since its geared that low. i'd say you'd pay around 80-100$ for an r/t pcm off someone on here. grey key = sentry key

Since you have grey keys you will need to have the SKIM code programmed into the computer.

Please bump your current threads in the future, unless it is a totally unrelated subject/topic. Having all the info in one place will better help us help you. And it makes for less clutter. :)

And yes, 3100 rpm in 5th @65mph would be normal for an R/T.

i had the same problem in my '05 srt design but with no fault code. After taking it to the PQRS(product quality research center, where engineers will look at and fix your car if it is a corporate lease) they finally figured out the soldering in the pcm was bad after the dealer i took it to told me i just needed my key to be reset
