Muffler Fit Question
Muffler Fit Question
I have been thinking about getting a Magnaflow muffler and i like the sound of the 14266, rated for Camaro/Firebird with 2.5" inlet with dual 2.25 out. What would i need to do to get this on an 00 neon?
Thanks.
Thanks.

You could search since this has been covered a million times... "camaro muffler"
Well I'm running a Dynomax Super Turbo camaro muffler on my car so it's similar. Not sure why you'd go with the 2.25" outlet if it's a 2.5" inlet... The Dynomax piece that goes from the axle back to the muffler is discontinued and I had to get a muffler shop to make one for me and they butchered it really bad and used the wrong size pipe to begin with... I upgraded my entire exhaust to 2.5" piping however I guess you could get an adapter up to 2.5". TruBendz may sell what you need. Although I thought they were no longer available.

If you opt for their pipes, I would go with the stainless. It isn't a ridiculous price increase. I would also order over the phone, and tell them how long you need the mid pipe to be. Or else it will be too short, unless you plan on a LTH. After some troubles I initially had, they made good on the pipe, and it still looks good after over a year.

It is how most single inlet/dual outlet mufflers are. Prolly to maintain some level of exhaust velocity in the system. Those two smaller exits combined are still a larger area than the inlet.sidepipe87 wrote:

my Magnaflow for a Camaro is a 2.5 inlet. The guy at the muffler shop made a connector that went 2.25 to 2.5 .

They offer decent performance, and fairly inexpensive and offer a good sound without being obnoxious.
I had one on my old '05. I wonder if the clip is still on Youtube... BRB.
EDIT: Found it.

nice on the sound... I have 350 from selling my truck and I want to do the exhaust on the neon.
So... would this one work?

I used the 12266, but that one is essentially the same except it has 2.5" outlets instead of 2.25". Get some tips and any decent muffler shop should be able install it for less than $100.
