Limestrat's 1st gen winter car project

Post by limestrat » Sun Oct 24, 2010 10:55 pm

this is what i started with

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

The shocker is gone, got the tail lights in and put in trunk carpet cause it was missing

Image

got rid of the big M vinyl off the side

Image

the door was never installed properly and barely latched shut plus im gonna paint it

Image

this is not the proper way to change a door, you never cut wires flush to the body duh

Image

took out the driver's seat that had the seatbelt wrapped around the frame

Image

this is the accident damage to the bumper

Image

lmao, dont run the fuel return line through the wheelwell above the tire

Image

this would be the reason the car doesnt have power steering

thanks for lookin and more updates to come

I sure hope you paid a lot less than $1200 for that. More like $400 or less. That thing was rough.

Wow.. what a hack job..

I want to know in what world are "Shocker" sticker ever cool? They are tacky and tasteless. Why would you want to advertise that you like to stick your fingers up someones asshole. I just don't get it.

well the guy i bought the car from was replacing it with a 5.0 mustang so if that tells you anything about his personality that would explain the shocker, anyway lol i think the car is originally hunter green and was painted this green,it does have a DOHC motor but I know its not original,oh and I only paid $600 for it

Well, for 600, at least there's not much rust and it's a starting place. Sometimes just getting going is the hardest part.

ill speak for my area there like civics near me everyone gets one does not much motor work and thinks there 15 flat is gonna dominate everything on the road. this doesnt go to say there isnt gorgious ones near me one that puts down 900hp fully built motor ect ect supercharger nitrious. near me alot of young guys that want a "HUGE V8 THATSUPER FAST" and buy the fox body. I like them but to somepeople there i guess overplayed by silly kids.

this doesnt mean i hate them lol or whatever just saying i could see how someone might come to that conclusion of disliking them

for now its just getting it back to 100% ,the future may have it become a high compression all motor drag car,the bonus is this car has NO rust,I looked at is as buying a rust free 2 door which is tough to find, might be dealing with tranny issue's the trans makes a squealing noise when in reverse.....oh and around here most guys that drive 5.0l are prick's

Yes I know, but chances are if you're willing to stick one in there you're probably weird enough to stick more in there.

ok,I just finished the redoin the interior and replacing anything that the prior (douchebag) owner had f'd up or broke or did wrong....nothing was screwed in,missing parts, broken parts and stupid mods(fuzzy lime green console cover)

Image

and I'd like to thank blackroseracing's christine for donating a pair of front seats for this car so I could take out the racing seats ....note to self, seats out of a 4 door do not fold forward for use in a two door

Image

Driver's door is painted and ready to go back on and be reassembled with all working parts from a donor door I got at the junk yard

Image

airbrushed skulls in the door jam

Image

this is what I found after removing some passenger side vinyl...I guess the didnt want to finish the paint work

tomorrow...puttind the drivers side back together and straightening the core support

I got a question for the forum...does anybody know if the power steering pump/lines and the radiator overflow is different from a SOHC to a DOHC???

from what I can tell from the 96 SOHC parts car and my mother's 99 DOHC they look the same the steering pump looks the same too. I think the steering rack may be different depending on model and options

the overflow tank sits behind the power steering tank and use the same "stud" on the firewall. not sure on the bracket.

new updates

Post by limestrat » Sun Feb 20, 2011 4:12 pm

its been a while since I updated annything on this thread and I lost interest in the project for about a month but here's where Im at

Image

a picture from the rear

Image

now have the drivers door all fixed and the hood painted and installed

Image

passenger side is de-vinyled and door painted,I reinstalled the rear side windows which were not sealed and only held on by one bolt each

Image

I redid the battery wiring cause the positive wire was routed through the front bumper to the passenger inner fender where the charcoal canister used to be and a makeshift battery bracket was welded in,the battery was grounded the the sheet metal of the inner fender. And the bracket was torched off, charcoal canister is reinstalled, figured out why the car wasnt getting heat cause the prior owner took the radiator cap off and punched out the thermostat into the intake, also routed the gas line down the frame rail and up the firewall instead of having it go through the wheel well

Image

now working of fixing the wrecked front bumper
Image

took the car out of the garage and now have no brakes, still have two engine codes to fix because the radiator fan is hardwired and the wires for the lockout converter are hacked but Im in the home stretch and hopefully will have a vehicle that gets better than 12MPG real soon

They are the same. Everything bolts to the block anyways. The Blocks are exactly the same. Over flow tank is the same as well
