Actually re-using the plastic that was cut out is the harder way. I was plastic welding for like 7 hours to fill in all the areas that were tapered. If I had to do it again I would cut out plastic from another bumper.

Did some more good stuff today.

What we did this past week.

Cut the vibrant muffler up, to fit the mopar rear lip.

Almost 4in were cut out of each side in order to get it where it is now, its not exactly there yet its just tack welded.

I got one of the tail lights in there.. I just pretty much cut a slit, along the body line 3/4 of the way across and tucked the piece down. It almost fits perfectly, except for the for the major curve, its slightly off there.

You can basically see what it'll look like when I finally finish it.

Alot more plastic work has been done since I last updated this.

I pretty much have the putty work done on the passenger side of the car, I really just have to put the final glaze over it.

The drivers side isn't as far along but it should be pretty close to being done tomorrow.

I'm shooting for having the bumper in primer by the end of the week and sitting in my garage in the weekend.

I'm not putting it back on the car until its painted. Can't risk damaging it before then.

The bumper, and tail lights aren't on all the way.

Notice the filled spot on the lip.

Its made from 2 layers of TEO plastic and a crap load of lord fusor plastic weld adhesive.

Its not done yet obviously but you get the point..

Juan did the 03+ rear bumper and 02 taillights on his neon a while back.

Goodluck, can't wait to see the finished project.

Looks a lot better now that you filled in that dip down on the lip. Can't wait to see it all painted.

Except, I'm almost positive he fiberglassed the whole area, I cut and rewelded 2 areas there and finished it with flexible polyester filler. My bumper is a bit more forgivable than his.

Not the whole area, just the finish. He cut slits in the bumper, heated the plastic to get it close to the shape he wanted, and used fiberglass to make it look pretty.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

10 months later..

I still really havn't made progress on the car.

Lets see what has happened..

money got tight for a bit, and instead of fixing the car cosmetically I ended up replacing Alot of steering and suspension parts.

2 new moog lower control arms
4 moog strut mounts
moog inner and outer tie rod ends
all stab link ends in moog and sway bar bushings
2 new gsp cv axles.

Then after that, I had started saving money to buy the rest of the paint and materials.

And something came up that was too good to pass up. On the last day of september I took home a 2005 flame red srt, In which has occupied my money. Since I was in college during the most part while I was fixing the 2000 money didn't flow in, But college is over and now the money is flowing good.

When I got the srt I let my roommate borrow the 2000 since He sold his car and got a bmw that doesn't run ( how ironic ). Long story short it got banged up.

It now needs a new driver side and passenger fender and a new passenger door. It has also been sitting in primer so long that its holding watter and starting to bubble. So all the body work need to be stripped and redone and I still have to finish the bumper and the deck lid...

For the past 2 months its been sitting next to the house, because the clutch is about shot and I don't feel like putting it through another ohio winter.

Now that we are all caught up.. On to the good news..

There will be progress once again. and It will be painted by the summer..

Look foward to pictures again. I still have some unique stuff planned for the car...
