Windshield washer pump replacement

Post by TeckNeon » Tue Oct 26, 2010 6:29 pm

This is my first time having something like this go so bare with me. I'm fairly mechanical so once I find it and buy the part ($30 on Rock Auto) I just need to find out where it is, how to get to it and I can take it from there.

Anyone ever replace one of these? Can you please shine some light on it?

its on the washer bottle. So your going to need to take you front bumper off. Once you get the bumper off it will be right there on the bottle cant miss it. Pull the plug off and then pull the vacuum hose off, but watch out when you pull the pump off because if you have fluid in the bottle it will get all over you and everything else.

Very simple

Oh! Ok. That's simple enough. Yeah, the bottle is full. It wasn't squirting so I filled it like anyone else would. No good.

Thanks for letting me know it's in the bumper. I was looking all over for it now it makes sense. Thanks!

I'm not sure it's necessary to remove the front bumper cover ??

I thought my friend replaced the washer pump on his 2005 SXT, without removing the bumper cover......

If you just pull the bottom splash guard, you can get to it from underneath. Heck, if you twist and turn the washer bottle enough it will also come out with out removing the bumper. But just pull the pump from the bottle to replace it. Either have something to catch the fluid, or call it a loss. Remember, washer solvent is a bit flammable, so keep that in mind, while you are under there.

I had only the picture with removed bumper and there it´s best to see.
Ah, btw, underneath the watertank is the vacuumreservoir (black box) from the cruisecontrol if you have.
