Steering noise

Post by SP33DN3ON » Wed Oct 27, 2010 7:38 pm

Hey guys,
got a weird problem here.
So whenever I turn left or right, I hear this low pitched sound coming out of the passenger side area (by the airbag).
I got no steering problems, in fact it got flushed few months ago and it works perfect. Any ideas what might it be?

is it all the time, or only when you are at full lock left or full lock right?

This could be a multitude of things ranging from the rack going bad to your bearings going bad. Any other symptoms that you could think of or notice that might help clarify?

Have you checked the fluid level? Are the hoses still attached to their original positions, and not touching the firewall? Like hansken_yo said, it could be anything.

If you can get someone to turn the wheel, look under the hood/car to see if you can get a better idea of where the sound is coming from.

I will record a video today and will post it for you guys so you could hear.
Hoses are good, checked them all, noise is getting louder every day only when you're steering not even to a full turn. Even the slightest turn will cause that noise.

If it's a humming noise, it's your wheel bearing. If it makes noise when you turn both left or right that's most likely not it though. It should go away when you take the weight off that wheel.
