If it is not building pressure, if that's what you mean by
P.s even with the new one the hose feels like there is nothing in it at all...
then your radiator cap may be bad. You may have gotten air in the system if the cap is bad. Could have been letting coolant out when it got hot, and then sucked air in when it cooled.

its a moot point at this time. as of now im going to have to trade in my neon for another car. i have four days to get over 1200 worth of work done. went for the inspection today and was shown then following things wrong with it.

both front end tie rods are shot
front rotors and pad (could do myself)
rear drums and hardware
all four tires
front control arms and boots...

I have manuals for repairs on ANYTHING on the dodge neons because of the school im going to. PM me if you have questions. Its a bad Idea to have questions. If you wanna sell that car to me, be my guest ill buy it and do the maintainence on it. U gotta pay to play, but playing is the fun part. your fixing your car for christ sake.

its not that i wouldn't do it myself. but the bad thing is i have no access to a lift to get the car in the air. also when i replace the parts with most of these im not going to mess with getting used parts. im going to be keeping the car but getting a beater next Friday and going to fix the neon. this is both a good thing and a bad thing. now i can have a winter beater that is stick (already found one for around 1000 (wee gotta love friends who dont mind payments)... the neon will slowly be fixed up its just dont currently have the time or money to do everything right now. also there is no way i can get the money in three days to actually have it legal on the road. will also be able to do some of the electrical work i wanted to do with it such as changing the interior lights and such. we will see what happens. if i can find a place to store it for winter i will but gotta find one first.
