Okay, the weather is finally starting to get decent and I want this thing out of my garage soon. I been tossing up ideas and would like some input and what I should do.

1. Sell the car AS IS. I know I will be able to make a profit, but I doubt its not much.

2. Have the local auto body shop assess the damages for free. This shop is only about a mile and a half away. I do have a set of railroad tracks to go over, and its max 35mph to get there on all the roads which is good. Problem is I don't have it insured since its a salvage title. I am thinking I could make it up there if I had someone follow me and I put the plates from the silver car on it. The hood is back on and so are the headlights. Everything works properly to my knowledge. Only issue that I would be afraid of is the bottom of the strut hitting the tire..
Look at the clearance of this photo I took a while back:
Image
I do have to go through the busiest intersection in Gardner to get there, but all the other roads are somewhat desolate.
I called up U-haul and they rent a tow dolly for $45 for the day. Then figure another $45 to tow it back, because I doubt they could assess the damage the same day and give me a quote so I could reuse that dolly and get it home if its not worth fixing. Seems quite steep. My girlfriends dad could tow it with his truck if I got that dolly
The body shop was saying that they would give me a quote, then me pulling the parts that need to be pulled off to pull the frame... then me towing it back to them which would be the cheapest route, but quite the hassle... 4 total trips. But for a bit more I could have the body shop tow it for $70 each way..Pricey, but the easiest way. Trying to save money here! I believe there is a coupon for a free tow if its within Gardner though so I heard. Also going to check craigslist for randoms that will tow for cheap. Edit: No towing services local...

3. If the car is not worth fixing..Then I will part it out completely and keep the motor for the silver car.

What do you guys think?

I would say drive it there, but the thing that scares me isn't that the strut will hit the tire (if the strut isn't touching the tire sitting there, it won't hit while moving either) but that part of the lower perch seems to be missing  What is keeping the spring seated on the outside?
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

I am the third owner..But I guess the 1st owner modified it so they could run those rims.... Very retarded, but its been like that ever since!

Then the strut hitting the tire shouldn't be an issue. Give it a spin around the block a couple times, see if it feels road worthy. If, after that you feel like you could make it to the body shop, go for it.

If not, then at least you've narrowed down the possibilities.

 You guys are so right. Bad weather right now, but I will take it for a spin once it clears up. Glad that strut issue won't be a problem.

It's been my knowledge that if your struts clear the tires, they aren't going to hit. Most, if not all, of the suspension travel comes from the springs and above. There's no flexibility in the distance between tire and perch. That being said. . . That modification there makes using a BFH to make room seem professional.

Car made it to the shop! Could hear the tire squealing every 5 seconds or so at 25mph. Railroad tracks scared me a bit, but I made it over them. Now its time to wait...

Got a quote.. $630 to pull the frame, which includes the part that says Replace, labor and tax..Everything. Besides the suspension. I could have them look at the suspension, but that will cost me..Then they tell me what needs to be replaced. I can do that myself. I also need to find a fender for them to use. Also a risk of the windshield breaking when they pull it.

Then he said after they pull it they aren't sure if the strut tower will be lined up correctly. But he said it should pull it out.

Should I get it done?
Not looking to put more than $2k into it..Not sure if its worth it or not...

Hm. so $630 plus a fender (30 bucks at Certafit or a jy) some paint, a hood and possible suspension/wheels.

Go stock and you can get it done for 1000-1500 depending on suspension/wheels etc, and you have an SRT.

I'd probably go for it.

I am worried about the subframe, and the fact that he said, "it should pull the strut tower out" So it might not..What about the steering rack too, it could be toast. I am leaning towards parting it out. Plus the fact I need a damn fender before they can pull it. Don't want it sitting out there for a long time in that bad area... Damn decisions sucks.

Get a yard fender for like $30. If they can't put the tower where it needs to be then they shouldn't be a frame shop.

exactly, look at it this way... worst case scenario;

$30 for jy fender
$630 to pull frame

so $660 plus what you bought it for, if the strut tower dosnt pull out right you can still part out and come out on top of what you spent

Cut the strut tower tops off, and lower it that way. Then the strut mount holes can be positioned w/e you need them to be.

Edit: I'd ship you my spare fender, but it would prolly cost more than $30 for shipping/packaging.

Didn't whatshisname basically do that with his white 1gn coupe? Wanted to go lower than he could go with coilovers so he cut the strut towers off and extended them?

Please don't let another one of these turn into a 3x3 cube like so many others. Fix it, sell it, turn a decent profit...

Went for it!

They are going to start on it Monday. Took a flame red fender off a locals wrecked SRT-4 before work. $75, including hardware and splash shields. Should of asked how much he wanted for the front portion of the side skirt. Will let you know how it goes!

They started working on it today! Red hood is buckled, so they are going to need the CF hood that came with it, since its fine. They are going to need that and some hood hinges. Hope to take the hood hinges off this weekend from the same car I got the fender from.
Here is a picture at the body shop where it was waiting for surgery.
