Power window problem!

Post by hound9164 » Sun Nov 07, 2010 5:46 pm

My power window died, and i would have just left it except it was stuck down.

Took the trim off the door to see the issue, but i cant tell if it is the regulator or motor.

BUT...I have little white plastic pieces all over the inside of the door that obviously broke off something.

I am leaning toward regulator. Could someone tell me if the pieces mean that's true, or better yet, show a regulator pic so i can see if they did break off?

Thank you all!

It is most likely the teeth from the plastic track. Especially if there are a lot. The motor pinion prolly doesn't have that many. But I would just pull the motor and check the pinion to be sure that is good, or it may damage the new regulator.

REGULATOR, Front Door Window
5015216AC 1 Power, without Motor, Right
5015217AC 1 Power, without Motor, Left

MOTOR, Window Regulator
5056030AB 1 Right
5056031AB 1 Left

You should be able to grab the window and pull it up if the teeth are stripped enough, or have a helper power the switch while you pull. Then prop it up inside to work on it.

OK, it looks like the regulator is cable driven. I was thinking of the older pre neons set up.

Most of that is cable clips. Possibly the cable conduit has come out of the housing and broken the clips off.

Here are a few ebay links to give you an idea of what it looks like. You can see the white conduit clips.
