HID Suggestions please!

Post by Johny » Tue Nov 09, 2010 11:47 pm

Hey guys, sorry if this was a repost but I can't find anything from the search functions; most of the pictures are non existant. Anyways, I'm in the market for some HID kits, and I've settled on VVME since a lot of you guys seem to be satisfied with them. Are any of you guys running 8000K HIDs with 3000K fogs?
I can't decide whether to go with 8000K headlights and 3000K Fogs, or have the fogs at 6000K. (I know at 8000K you're losing lumen, but I sorta like the blueish tint)

Pictures would be appreciated, thanks!

I had 6k in both. Now only running 6k in the headlights. Not sure if I want to do the fogs. So much wiring and shit.

Check local laws and see how illegal it is to have blue headlights. Depending on how strict they enforce it you could just be asking for police problems.

8000Ks should be fine here, we have people running around with 10000k headlights, let alone purple fogs and yellow headlights.. :tardbang:

I've got the 35w, 8ks from VVME in my stock housing. They are really bright and have a great blue tint to them at night and look amazing in the evening time. The 8k are still hella bright and look a amazing.

I'm all about function over form. Anything over 6k is dumb. Less lumen output, and more strain on the eyes for night driving.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from, but I always liked the small blue hue. I'm planning to put in 6k fogs anyways, so light shouldnt be a problem

Sorry to e from the daead, but why do you say tha anything over 6k is dumb? I mean as long as it's not over 12k ou are still going to see a noticeable difference over stock output and how do you mean added strain on the eyes?

I think its cause you start to lose lumen if you go above 4300 or 6000.

Just cause you see others running around with [possibly] illegal headlight colors, doesn't mean it's ok. Police just hasn't cited them yet. I would check first to see what the DMV laws are there. I know here in NC, if the headlight color didn't come blue-ish from the factory, it fails inspection. I just recently had to take my dang license plate frame off because they're passing a law around NC that states that anything that covers the words "North Carolina" is illegal, and is a $100 fine. It "interferes" with cops' ability to scan license plates...
