Laidneon -- Facelift on my Ram

Post by LaidNeon » Sat Nov 13, 2010 7:20 am

been wanting to do this for awhile. I purchased a 2010 Ram HD 3500 bumper back in August. I finally got the itch to get it mounted. I just recently picked up the HD Grill & i plan to get the Hood later this year. All the chrome will be color matched too BTW. I also plan to do a little bit of sheet metal work on the bumper before it gets painted. Anyways, here is the progress

BEFORE
Image

First things first, had to hack off the stock frame horns to mock up the bumper. 2500 & 3500 have a different frame so i had to make new frame horns to bolt the bumper up

My old bumper beat to hell from being driving low daily lol

here's the bumper mounted. I plan to purchase billet tow hooks & fog lights. Then i will be making a cover to hide my batteries since they are visible now

I decided to make the trim pieces that mount below the headlights out of sheet metal. I could have purchase these from Dodge but im sure they wanted an arm & atleast a leg for them lol. I wanted to challenge myself anyways & i had sheet metal laying around in my garage to use

Test fitting the HD grill & the stock 1500 hood almost shuts

Checking the fitment of the trim pieces next to the HD grill

here's my motivation to hurry up & buy the HD Hood because the stock 1500 grill makes my trim pieces look like ass. they dont fit very well next to it lol

Ahh ok.

Not to sound cliche or elitist or anything, but I REALLY wanna build one of my own someday. I really enjoy doing the work so as they say it could be "built not bought". I've seen enough "most hacked shit" threads out there though that prove that's not always the wisest move, then again I've seen shops do some haggard setups that need to be redone too. Anyway, point is someday when I have more money I'm gonna buy a welder and teach myself to weld and see what I can do from there.
