Hello! Just bought an 02 SXT!

Hey everyone, long time reader first time poster...

Just bought an '02 Dodge Neon SXT, automatic (might change that next year) with 120k miles.

Used to drive a '95 Crown Vic, loved that car, surprisingly fast for how big it is. Best mileage was 18-19 in the city and well into the 20's on the highway. Just drove 100 miles on $10 worth of gas (2.95/gal) and that was pretty awesome.

Cleaning it up right now, has a lot of scratches on it, some I can buff out, some a bit deeper. It is PR4 red, one of my favorites.

I have a pretty big to-do list:

Timing belt, tensioner, water pump, flush cooling system, serp belt, change oil & filter, trans service (filter, fluid, and flush cooler), inspect intake filter.

Horn did not work so I replaced it with an electric train horn last night, sounds pretty sweet.

Actual mods, well I want to do a muffler swap, custom CAI, seats, wheels, and looking into doing a shift kit. I heard there is a switch you can wire up to make the shifts a lot firmer?

Loving the sound system over the CV, 6 CD's is pretty awesome... haha

AFAIK they are just aftermarket lamps.

I always thought that if one was to cut out the mounts for the fogs and put some goos mesh behind it then it would look pretty good, esp if there was mesh also behind the center lower grille...

I am actually going to run either a high watt halogen or a HID fog light setup mounted in the factory location, aimed out to the sides, then run two in the middle lower grill to cover the mid beam.

car looks good but u def need a mild drop to get rid of that wheel gap. go with a happy medium spring like eibach pro kit or the mild teins.

Yep, I completely agree on the drop springs. I will be prowling through the FS threads to find some..

Just did rear drums and shoes, pretty much forced to because the passenger side shoes fell apart and sounded like demons growling at me hahaha...

Looks like my luck came through this year.. Just got done with timing belt, tensioner, water pump, and serp belts. The tensioner was broken, but thankfully mine was mechanical and did not fail because it was already set.... Belt looked pretty bad, heavy shadowing on the back side with cords exposed on the inside. 121K on the clock for those...
