Street and Performance Motor Mounts?

Street and Performance Motor Mounts?

Post by DuhNeon179 » Sun Nov 21, 2010 12:43 am

I noticed...well actually felt...that my motor mounts were actually shot to shit. When I looked at it, I had my friend shift the gears and the whole motor shake giving me hard clank sound every time I put it in D and R. The rubber bushings are just they're almost non existent. Now I was looking at some new ones I saw that they run about $37 each roughly? Is there even a Street and A performance one? What's the difference between the two? If neither exist would it be recommended to change just the bushings or the whole entire mount?

If the rubber in the mount is torn. it's time to get new mounts. you have 2 choices (or 3, if you consider the 2 different motor mount inserts)

New mounts with the inserts (street inserts allow the mounts to last longer, while the race mounts do the same but are more stiff to where it will tone down the wheel hop but up vibration slightly)

Solid motor mounts. IE boomba mounts. vibration is more harsh than race motor mount inserts but wheel hop is almost nil

You buy replacement mounts, and then get either race or street inserts. A non-turbo engine should be just fine with street inserts.
