There is no other layer of chromium under there. Triple plated means it is first zinc plated, then copper, and finally chrome. What you sand down to is the zinc, which will shine up fairly well, but it will rust eventually. What I don't understand is why Borla would not just use polished stainless like the oem SRT rear section. Seems kind of cheap to me. Unless they triple plated stainless tips, but then is it 400, or 300 series?
At least with the 306 stainless tips, you can sand your fingers off, and you still have a shiny rust proof surface. Score one for DCX.
