I just noticed your sig. Is it a typo, or did you really cram a 5.9 cummins into a dakota?

Oh geeze..... I was going to be surprised you fit the B series in a stockish dakota, it's a tall engine and the dakota has a short hood. By the sounds of all your other mods it's no longer a problem, probably freed up quite a bit of room.

Got a pic?

Yeah it required some firewall cutting and a slight body lift but its in there.

Surprisingly I have no pics just yet, it still isnt completely ready for the road. I want to fix up a couple dents and get it all painted Hunter Green so its wrapped up for the winter. I got it pretty much done lat October and with out awesome Canadian weather there was no time to finish it before the snow flew.

Come spring its body work and paint, then time to finally enjoy something that has taken me a year and a half to build.

the only problem i can see with this setup is the used 2.7l coils. i'm glad they worked for you, i've replaced quite a few of those in concordes and intrepids. just keep one or two on hand in case one blows up on you.

Yeah, brand new ones are going on this weekend. I started with used ones cause I wasnt about to pay for new ones and have it not work.

There is now a HOW TO in the.......how to section. ***Note I made the diagrams to the absolute limits so that everyone could make a plate even if they were out a bit.****

My question, y did u wire it like that instead of just making Y splitoffs with the wires? or did u try the Y splits and it didnt work like that.

?? Show me a diagram of what you are talking about............

I wired them in series so that they would act as if they were a stock coil pack. Since it is a wasted spark system cylinders 1&4 and 2&3 fire at the same time regardless of whether or not it is on the compression stroke, I had to wire it so that they still did the same thing.

He has them wired in series vs. parallel. If the coil drivers are strong enough to charge the coil in series, it's the safer way to do it. But then again, the coils charge faster in parallel. Disadvantage being that the coil drivers will get hot way faster, and they tend to be delicate.

Compare it to running a pair of 4 ohm subs. If you wire them series, it's way safe for the amp, but not nearly as loud since you'll be at 8 ohms. But if you run them parallel, you'll have a 2 ohm circuit. That would drive the amp much harder, but at risk of amp failure depending on the amp.

Never thought of it like that. Just thought of it as if one fails and its wired in series, then they both fail. I think I will try paralell once I nabed my coils.
