magna flow or strait back?

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

I am also looking for exhaust, i'm pretty sure Borla stopped making the system for our cars because they took it off of their website. But you can still find them for around $600. You can find Magnaflow everywhere, and for under $500 at some places (I think i'm gonna get this system). I hear Pacesetters rusts out. Just what i heard, don't know anyone with it though.

That's my .02, hope it helped a little.

I wouldn't bother spending the money for a brand name exhaust. Not worth it unless you got show parts & all brand name parts etc.

You should just buy a magnaflow rear muffler.. you can get them with 1 inlet 2outlets so u got a dual exhaust. Wichever you prefer then have your local echaust shop do your piping to 2.5" from the cat to the new muffler.

I'm current using a magnaflow rear muffler with 2 outlets on my RT. Cut my resonator off the midpipe. & sounds great. Tho every car is different when it comes to exhaust sounds.

Actually there is a benefit to buying a brand name piece, quality and longevity.

Knock off pieces are more prone to being made of junk metal where as a known name brand piece will be a higher quality metal and construction.

While I agree 100%, the ebay exhaust on my sxt has been in 3 winters and has no rust at all. Fitment isn't perfect, but no vibration or rubbing.

Not all knockoffs are junk, but it's a risk when buying knockoffs.

Jckevns- yeah magnaflow is so ftw. Here in a few months I'm going to redo the exhaust to 2.5" but keep the muffler cause I love it. Should sound way sex when I'm done wit it.

Sc62319- no its not. Its just a dual exit that magnaflow makes.

You may just have valvetrain noise which is very common on all Neons, and it sounds worse cold.

You want to find out what quality steel is used in the exhaust. I have a maxxfab made with 304 stainless and it looks almost brand new after 3 years.

A lot of the cheap exhausts are made out of mild steel and will rust completely out within a couple years. If you plan on keeping the car it's worth putting in a good exhaust. It's cheaper in the long run.
