Pop a couple of Tums in there before you fill 'er up - that fixes all of my spit-up problems....

As for the car burping up, mine does nothing of the sort.

if fuel is being spilled while pumping then i thinkits not your car fault. the fuel handl is supposed to have a auto shutoff. i really dont knwo how that works but when mine fill to the top it shuts off automatically. then ill try to shake the car to get the air inside out and squeeze an extra $200 before it starts to spill.

funny thing happend to me that i learned abot that auto shutoff.
i pulled to the gas station in the summer and saw some chicks in convertable pt that looked like they came fromthe beach. so first thought is wow half naked chicks, be cool, be cool.
i pull up next to then and start pumpin just standing there trying to be cool.
a good 12 gallons later is shuts off on me. but im to bussy checking out the big booty chicks acting like bimbos carelessly showing skin. any how without thinking i pulled the lever and it pumped for 5sec before it stoped again. i did it like 4 times without even looking at what i was doing and soon as the essens of fuel hit me like abrick wall. i had spilled like 1gal on my shoe splashed on my pants and was standing in the biggest gas puddle ive ever seen. damm i wanted to crawl under a rock and die. the chicks had seen it and didnt say anything but giggle and smile.
so yeah the pump should have a auto shutoff that shuts off when you top off. if not then it might be faulty or just an old pump that doesnt have it yet.

There is a warning on most gas pumps now that the auto shut off is not guarenteed. That way if it does not shut off, you cannot give the station crap about it. Or so they say. :? But, yeah, that auto shut off is not 100%. Your on your own. Sometimes if you listen carefully, you can hear when the fuel is backing up the filler tube. Most of the time you can release the trigger in time not to spill fuel all over the place. I'd try different gas stations and see if it does it again. Good luck! :)

My rodeo did it all the time... you just gotta pay attention and listen carefully. you can hear when the gas is comming back up (like mopar said).

I started to pay attention cause i got tired of having my shoes stanking like gas fumes all the time
