I'm entering Kent State to Major in Musical Theatre, and even though that doesn't sound like a guy who is typically very mechanically inclined, while I'm not an expert, I can find my way around a car. I guess I'm interested in mechanical stuff because it disproves the stereotype that all theatre-guys are gays who talk with a lisp and couldn't change a tire to save their lives. None of which I am, lol. That, and I grew up in a family of people who work with their hands. (My father is now a building inspector, and previously owned his own HVAC business for 10 years.) My cousin is basically a car god though, and he'll be around to guide me in my mechanical endeavors. However, he's also new to MOPAR, as he's a Pontiac Fiero nut. So I figured that it'd be a good idea to get some advice from guys who know these cars.
Traditionally, my family is a Ford family. My parents owned all kinds of Mustangs throughout the 80's and now still own mostly Fords. My first car was a '96 Ford Probe GT. I loved that car . . . alas, it was not meant to be
I am now finding that I don't have any specific preference toward ford, just toward anything by American Auto-makers. What are the biggest differences between working on Fords and on MOPAR vehicles? Since I do most of my own maintenance, is there anything specific I should know about Neons and their tendencies? My car has the first 4spd-auto offered on Neons, and I've already found that they're not held in high regard. What potential pitfalls should I be aware of? Anyways, thanks for reading my ridiculously long-winded introduction, and I'll be around!
