Upper Motor Mount Bolt

Post by GreeNeons03 » Mon Dec 27, 2010 2:29 am

So the bolt in my upper motor mount that goes through the rubber things and into the block broke today on my way home from my girlfriends. I heard a thunk when I accelerated and wondered "what the hell was that?" I got home, popped the hood and checked around with my flashlight and saw the motor mount not connected. It looks like the bolt broke in three places, I'll take a picture tomorrow when it's light out.

Anyway, does anybody know what size that bolt is so I can go get a replacement.

Go to the dealer and ask, they are roughly 15$ but its worth it.

More importantly...Where did it break? Inside that mount bolted to the block? Have fun getting that one out...

I don't know yet, I haven't had a chance to really look at it. I just wanted to know the size so I can pick one up at auto zone or someplace like that and not have to drive out to the dealer.

you cant find that bolt at your local autoparts store or anywhere store wise.Trust me cause i once searched for one for days before going to the dealer.

either Dealer or junk yard might possibly have one but i doubt it on the junk yard.

More importantly, why would you use a bolt that's rusty and crusty from a Junkyard when it will probably end up failing just like the stock one did. Buy a new one from the dealer.

Get a better bolt. The stock ones are known to fail.

Do these work for the 2.0? They are intended for the 2.4.

Modern performance sells a kit for the whole passenger side with 12.9. They are stronger than the 10.9 we have stock, but with the hardening process they become more brittle. I have put these 12.9's on my car and not had a problem.

The uppers will work, but not the lower. The SRT uses a bigger bolt on the lower.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

I got a new bolt from the dealer today and fixed everything. Wasn't too bad, took probably less than 30 mins. Eventually I'll get the Boomba solid mounts.

Sometimes the local hardware stores will carry that bolt in the correct grade. I have one called Turner Hardware that carries nearly any bolt I've ever needed, aside from those specialty bolts which only chrysler carries.

I've never seen an O'Rielly's here in Tampa. Seen them in Atlanta though, but that doesn't help, lol.
