Snow storm. now car shaking.........uh

Post by lilnicko11 » Tue Dec 28, 2010 8:46 pm

so we had a snow storm and I haven't drove my car in 3 days now. Anyways it was a pain in the ass getting out. had to spin tires some and go back and forth a lil. i also changed both axles about 3 weeks ago but I have not had any problems with them thus far. anyways above 45 mph the car seems to shake. seems like it is coming from the front left. any ideas? I checked all tires. seemed fine. axles seemed ok.

EDIT: ITS MY 02 ACR. Not the SRT4

That's usually the problem, its throwing your wheels out of balance and your getting a shake like you would with new unbalanced tires

Wait 'till you get some packed inside a large 4 x 4 rim, and hit 45 mph. A couple pounds of snow on one side makes for an interesting ride.

i'm just coming in here to tell you that sometimes snow gets packed in the wheels and throws it off balance

Seems we get a few of these kind of posts every winter.

Seems pretty common but surprisingly I've never had the problem.

You usually have to be busting through some deep snow, and have enough caliper to rim clearance to let it build up in there. If it packs in unevenly, or part of it flies out, well you know the rest of the story.
Usually snow that just drifts in there isn't dense enough to cause a problem.

Yeah, it gets pretty rough in an 20x10 rim like I had on the ram. Hell even the 17x8 on the bronco can get packed pretty well and make for a nasty wobble.
