17's on an R/T
17's on an R/T
i have an '01 R/T (BUX) with standard silverstones and normal 195/50/16 tyres.
my wheels and tyres are in poor condition and rather than paying loads to get them refurbed and new tyres i'm looking at getting some fresh wheels - 17"s
as far as my research shows 215/40/17 is close as makes no difference to exactly the same size as standard 195/50/16 regards the diameter of the tyre.
i have the car lowered 35mm on SPAX springs with stock struts. i'm looking into BC coilovers eventually but not yet.
just checking that 215/40/17s won't foul on the spring rest or anything else due to the increased width of the tyre and i wont need fenders rolled?
and also ... what offset do i shop for? the guy in my local wheel shop says anything between 35 and 45.
the wheels i am looking at specifically are 38 offset and 7.5 wide
i'd just like to check this is accurate with you guys who know better than him ... and me!

i've found a guy who can wheel refurb pretty cheap so i think im gonna keep my standards for now.
the problem is that the standar tyre size of 195/50/16 has poor selection of tyres.
205/45/16 and 205/50/16 are also expensive however ... 205/55/16 have a MASSIVE collection and much better prices.
will fitting 4 of these 205/55/16 cause any problems on standard r/t rims ?

oh i see, yeah i forgot about the speedo issue.
its annoying because the tyres in standard size 195/50/16 are a lot more expensive than slightly different sizes in the same brand.
and also i'd like to go a bit wider on the tyre in hope of more grip
what about going for 205/50/16.
the calculator says it has only 10mm difference in diameter to standard and "at 70mph your speedo will read 71.16mph"

I'm running 205/55/16s
Stock struts with eibach springs.
No clearance issues.
Never have checked my speedometer though...can't imagine it's off by that much.
