but i want more bass... so i was going to get another sub so id have 2 12s and then another mono amp.

have to agree here, especially since you said in your other thread you might have engine issues.Danteneon wrote:You could use that money to fix up your car. Better to have a reliable car that won't leave you stranded then a car that won't run but has a loud sound system.
You can't drive a stereo.

You only need one good amp to power 2 subs. Having an amp per sub is overkill, unless you like it like that. And there is no need for an amp for the other speakers as long as you have an aftermarket headunit that can handle them.

you can't make general statements like that. how can you possibly say one amp per sub is overkill without knowing what the equipment is? aftermarket or not no headunit can have the output of an amp.
OP, post up what equipment you have now and people can better help you.

right now i have a sony HD head unit. its pretty nice $200
i have infinity kappa 3.5 2 ways. infinity kappa 6.5 3 ways. infinity kappa 6x9 3 ways. pioneer gm-d9500f. infinity kappa 120.9w. alpine mrp-m500. stock charging system. with blue shit oozing out of a brand new battery =). and possible rod knock =(. but more then likely its bad rocker arms =/. i hope so anyways.
i want to get another infinity kappa 120.9w and another alpine mrp-m500
or
replace my 6x9s with another set of infinity kappa 6x9 3 ways.
and maybe get a infinity component set. and another pioneer gm-d9550f.
if i do the 2nd one there is a choice between 2 amps this time. i was told by crutchfield that class ab amps have cleaner sound for main speakers. so its a choice between the pioneer amp and the alpine mrp-f300. (the pioneer is a class d the alpine is a class ab)
edit
and i dont always have my system up. even when turned up loud i often turn it down for a second to listen to my engine to make sure all is fine. i care alot for my car. and thing is i didnt get a big tax return so yeah... but i guess i should save up and try and see what is up with my engine. i hate being mature haha

2nd to last statement is EXACTLY what you should do. Stereos are great, but it was said perfectly earlier... you can't drive a stereo.thisdieingdream1 wrote: with blue shit oozing out of a brand new battery =). and possible rod knock =(. but more then likely its bad rocker arms =/. i hope so anyways.

Or you could help me pay my car note.

never played with that sub nor heard of something like that. i'll have to find one to play with.thisdieingdream1 wrote:the sub is infinity ssi.it is a 12 inch, its a 2 or 4 ohm sub with a push of a button...
1.83 cubic feet i believe or 1.61, ported as well.
enclosure size plays a huge role in how a sub will perform. 0.2ft3 in a ported enclosure can change the tuning of the box quite easily. before you do anything i would find out the true specs, including internal volume, sub displacement and port info. all of these factors have to be specifically determined. did you buy a pre-fab enclosure and stick the sub in it?
also keep in mind that you need to double the power to gain 3db, so just adding a matching pair of sub/amp will not be a huge increase in output.
