Questions about axles, transmissions, differentials, pretty much anything that connects the engine to the wheels, this is the place for those questions.

R/T 3.94 trans on SRT motor... possible?

Post by wheels04sxt » Tue Feb 08, 2011 9:00 pm

not sure if this should go here but anyways. im wondering if the 3.94 (or even a 3.55) trans will bolt up to the 2.4l block? will be built to handle thw power w/ lsd. also if its possible would you need to run an SRT 850 clutch or a 350 style? thanks in advance

As far as I know it is 100% possible and will bolt right up. Hul Kogan essentially has an SRT engine (built 2.4) and he's running something other than a T-850. As for the clutch, I'd imagine it'd be T-350 style, but again, this is all speculation.

its possible. alot of 1gn guys keep there t350 cable trans since they dont want to convert it to hyrdo. in your case stick with a 2gn t350hd trans 01-05 and youll be fine.. they are stronger then the older 1gn t350 trans, have the same hydro clutch setup as your 2gn also.

As for clutch you can run a turned down srt clutch (guy on neons.org does it) or run a good t350 clutch like clutch masters, ect

A 3.55 ratio MTX is a better choice for turbo. The 3.94 will work, but it will be a little harder to maintain boost, and prolly traction.

3.55hd would be best.. but one thing about a 2gn r/t-acr 3.94 and pt 3.94 is that the gears are slightly longer and the stock tire heights are slightly taller compared to a 1gn 3.94 and tire setup.. helps out slightly compared to a boosted 1gn with the slightly smaller tires and shorter gears.

still go 3.55hd for boost
