Kezzo123's UK neon progression! and about time too!

Post by Kezzo123 » Wed Feb 09, 2011 1:55 pm

Hello everyone,

I have owned a 02 Neon r/t for just over 2 years now and ive done some mods:

When I first bought the car for £2090 with 46,000 miles

Image

I changed the exhaust for a magnaflow.. sorry no pic's

I then changed the wheels (getting ready for haters) because I dont like the stock ones they look messy!!

Image

Then new wheels = lower! .... the only picture i have, sorry! will get more

Image

Then I 'tarted' up the engine bay:

Image

Then things when silient on the old girl till 2months ago when a dosy stupid idiotic brainless old fart reversed off her drive in her retard mobile, not even looking, into me:

Image

The picture doesnt really do justice to the damage to the doors.. Luckily no structural damage what so ever, and she admitted full liability so I had most of car resprayed ! Hahahaha

Then my mind turned to ENGINE!
Spec: comp400 cam, dohc pistons, port and polish and new belts / gaskets so on.

At the scrappers picking up the engine:

Image

On the Stand:

Image

Bottom end looking healthy:

Image

Pulling the harmonic balancer off:

Image

Pulled the rockers off they look sweeeet:

Image

Cam looks real nice however this will be sold / scrapped:

Image

The Head is OFF! Pisons look good however mucky, these will also be sold / scrapped. The bores on the block are absolutly perfect you can still see cross-hatch! :

Image

Heads off looks in good cond however tons of carbon deposits, this will be skimmed (decked) 10thou:

Image

Could not believe my eyes when I took the pistons and rods out. The bearings look brand new! There is litrally no need to change them at all! This motor is sweet! Job well done:

Image

And as of last night this is how it sits waiting for parts:

Image

I will keep you all up to date on how things are rolling :D :D :D

Ill upload bigger pictures when more detail is needed.... OR is requested! :)

Looking forward to your progress.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Thanks dude! all picture then from now on will be HUGE.

Just a quick question :- The magnum engine is listed as 'F' on the Vin and the standard motor is 'C' ?

Is that correct?

Yeh the engine and head will be cleaned up and painted and the inlet manifold will be polished up like chrome. I could do with finding the 2.0 high output injector cover but they are like rocking horse shit in the UK....

Hopefully pulling the valves out the head either tonight or tomorrow night.

Question- why is it that when I clicked on your pics to enlarge them, I got a fake spyware alert message and had to reboot my PC to get out of the warning window? Did this happen to anyone else? Sorry to hijack but I was a little ticked when this happened.

Good progress today, all the valves and springs are out, all look in good condition just need to clean up the valves and source some new r/t v'springs.... and a full gasket set for the top and bottom end....and some piston rings for the DOHC pistons I will have on order very shortly.

Got some quotes from some UK companys and I laughed myself silly at the cost! Full gasket rebuild kit for a neon r/t = £314.76 so in dollars that would be = $503.742 Yes the UK sucks ass for parts!

Will be porting the exhaust tomorrow dont worry you crazy people pictures will follow!!

Right im off. laters

On Moderns Website: Note: Mopar appears to have discontinued the head gasket set for the 01-04 Neon 2.0L Magnum motor.

Cry :(

ANYWAY

Done the porting on the exhaust and dont worry I didnt touch the 'hump' :

Image

Ive not gone silly on the porting didnt see the point TBH but now I can fit my fingers down the exhaust ports which is a win!

Image

I should be doing the inlets soon.

I am really struggling finding the following parts in the UK is there any dodge parts guy who can help me out?

-Piston rings 1.2mm 1.2mm 3.0mm Bore; 87.5mm
-Top end gasket set for a neon R/T inc Head gasket

Really nice work you did. I like the R/T.

I thought about spending my holiday in the UK, buy a R/T to drive around a bit and take it back home to germany.
Actually I am trying to convince my wife of that idea :cheerleader:

btw - do you still have the R/T-alloys left or already sold ?

I could ship them over to you if you so desire. I've shipped internationally for a bunch of members (Netherlands, Holland, Germany, Australia, etc.) without issue. If a supplier won't ship to you, you could paypal me the money, I'll buy it and have it shipped to me, then ship it to you and you cover the fees.

Just an option for you if you don't end up finding anyone.
