New head unit question

Post by HazmatJeff » Wed Feb 09, 2011 8:25 pm

I just got the Alpine iDA-X305S receiver and on the wiring harness is where the fuse is. It's a yello wire about 16-14 gauge. I'm not sure what or where I connect it too. Any help would be appreciated, pictures can also be put up if need be.

I have a wire harness, I have an older Kenwood receiver in now with only an AUX option. I wanted the better SQ of usb and the charger too.

hate to break your bubble but usb does not mean better sq. in most cases you are still using the external player's dac, and unless you are using apple lossless of flac it will never be as good as a cd, and even if you are it may not be as good as a cd.

When I would switch from "No Love" by Eminem from the CD to it being off of my iPod through a 3.5mm cable it sounded better and the bass was more defined. For both presets the settings were the same, I realize that CDs are better, just an instance where It didn't seem to be the case.

I know you can turn up a USB connected device louder without distortion then you can with an AUX connected device.

An IP Bus cable might be a better option. (For an MP3 anyways)

What would be the point of getting those if I'm connecting my iPod directly to the head unit through the usb?
