Looking at Dodge SUV's

Post by C1DoG » Thu Feb 24, 2011 9:15 pm

My wife are looking at possibly getting a durango in the next couple of years. Next to having twins. we also kayak and bike and camp. Durango would have the space. My question is what years are good for the Durango? Might be able to get a 2010 or 11 in a couple years, but I am also looking at ones bef0re that.

2011 Durango is about as close to good as Durangos ever were.

Why not a 2005-2010 Grand Cherokee they are cheap and very very nice

Note DO NOT say you need 7 or 8 seats you have yourself, a wife, and, two children thats four people. 5 seat SUVs have enough space to actually carry things as well as people. I have yet to see an SUV or CUV that can fit 7 people and enough things for 1 or 2 (Excursion and Suburban dont count)

If you want 7 seats minivan is the answer

I was thinking of the grand cherokee, but it doesn't have the space. Gotta also think, we will be hauling kayaks on the roof with the back loaded with tons of stuff for camping. And posssibly bikes also.

Whatever you do, stay away from the 2nd gens (04-08 or whatever year they stopped making them before the new 2011)

Butt ugly :P

I love my 1st gen, but since you are looking at something to buy within the next few years a 1st gen (98-03) will be pretty old.

I really liked our 2002 R/T.

There are certian things that will go bad on them, just so you know. Make sure you have extra cash on hand to fix what is needed after you buy one.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

if you decide to not get a new one i would recommend a 99 durango. my dad has the 99 durango and it is awesome. i love driving it. plus it has the shift lever for the 4WD option and not Electrical like some are.

We sat and talked last night and came to the conclusion that we would be getting the 2011 model. :D

I think a better transmission option will be available for the 2012's. Gives you a year to save for a better down payment. :D

We went to the local dodge dealership and took at durangos this morning. Then we looked at Dodge Journey's. Liked the journey better, so it looks like the journey will be the one we will be getting. :D
