exonerated - my new favorite word

Post by skuttler » Fri Dec 16, 2005 4:40 am

I live in Orem Utah where cops have literally nothing to do but harass people. Well needless to say, I was harassed about a month ago. The charges were improper lane change and failure to signal. He also was so nice as to give me a warning, 55 in a 45 which was a complete bullshit lie that he made up so that I would feel like I was getting a "good deal". Anyway, I lost my temper at him completely vented, and called him a liar. I know I shouldn't have done that but I can't stand being lied to. By the end of the patrol stop he all but took back his allegation that I was speeding. Also I proved that the reason I "failed to signal" was that my blinker had a short that I was unaware of, and the reason I changed lanes on the solid white line 25 yards in front of an intersection was to avoid driving past an emergency vehicle on a 2 lane road in the lane adjacent to him. So basically I proved all his allegations were bullshit but mr. antsy pants patrol officer had already written my ticket before hearing my side of the story. The next week I wrote a letter to the mayor and police chief asking them to review the tape but because I "vented" at the officer they didn't let me off. I ended up having to pay for the ticket but I plead not guilty so that I could take it to court. After all, I have the right to speek my mind (first ammendment) but he doesn't have the right to lie to people during a patrol stop. Well to make a long story not so long I showed up in court yesterday in the morning and that pussy didn't. They let me off completely. I get my 164 dollars back, and my insurance doesn't go up. KickAss!!!! There's a moral to this story though. Always plead not guilty. The police will try to screw you. If you get a ticket Plead Not Guilty!!! There was this lady that showed up in court with me yesterday cuz she ran a red light. She was able to get off that ticket by going to traffic school for like 80 bucks in stead of paying a 300 dollar ticket and increased insurance rates. America kicks ass but if we don't fight for the rights it was founded on ,like the right to speedy trial, we won't have them for very long.

I got accused of 127 in a 55. I wasnt anywhere near where it happened...much less even speeding at all. I fought mine all the way to a jury trial w/ an attorney. It went from a $400 ticket, and 6 points to $75 and 2 points. I didnt plead guilty either....esp. not for something that happened that my car isnt even capable of, but the jury was apparently stupid and didnt realize that its just a NEON. Oh well, Im glad mine is behind me and over w/. I dont know how much my insurance is gonna go up, but theres always defensive driving to get the points back.

You were lucky you didnt have to pay yours...i wish i would have been that lucky, but I guess it ended up not so bad

i was on the bike and cop said he clocked me at 65 in a 45..... i don't know if i was doing the 65 or not, i was not paying attention, but there were no speed limit sighs until you came around a curve...... it was in a blind spot. i didn't think i was speeding at all, thats the reason why i stopped. if i had known he was gonna give me ticket, i would of gone bye-bye on him.

wouldnt there be a way for you to show them that the neon has a 118 mph speed limiter and that it was impossible to go 127 and that the credibility of the officer would take a hit.

I have court date on the 2nd of Feb.

I was clocked at 70 in a 55, which is BS. I was passing someone and they were going 50. The passing zone ended soon and there was a curve, so I nailed it and got around this person as quickly as possible. As soon as I got around the person, I was on the brakes and he was waiting in a driveway. I saw him pull out, and I knew I was hit, so I pulled into another driveway.
He pulled in behind stopped me.

The guy was super nice and I thought he'd cut me a break, but wrote me a fucking ticket anyway.
I've been to court twice and plead not guilty both times....so they keep giving me court dates....this one is Feb 2nd.

If the person in front of you is going 50 and the limit is 55, how do you NOT speed when passing and not risk oncoming traffic?????
Not only that, but I wanted to get around this guy as quickly and safely as possible. I don't usually speed on the road I was on because of dickhead cops....the one time I did I get busted.

Not to be a jerk and say the cop was right with the ticket. But according to traffic laws (at least in this state) if you have to exceed the speed limit to pass someone, then you shouldn't pass them.

But who listens to that right?

^^^
Yeah same here in WNY, thats why I try to do as you did and get by as fast as possible.
Neonchic....did you ever update your topic about that incadent?

I almost got busted a few months back myself. The day I got the 60mm TB from neonchic, I grabbed one of my 22ounce steelreserves and went out into the garage to install the TB. Once everything was set I went for a test drive...
One block south of me I dropped the hammer and roached the hell out of the tires, let off got traction and floored it again to break the tires free. Im lovin it. So I went home, did a once over to make sure everything was set and went for another test drive. This time around as soon as I pulled into my driveway 2 city cops came flying in behind me.
I opened my door and the screamed to me to shut it. They had me open my window and stick my hands outside the car. Looking in my sideview mirror the female cop had her hand on her gun ready to draw as she aproached me.
She asked if I knew why I was stopped, I said no. She said they got reports of me doing burnouts the next street over. I told her its just a neon, it cant do burnouts. I was just test driving after doing some repairs. Then she intern asked if I have been drinking(at that time I had 2 22ounce bottles in me in under an 11/2hr)
I told her I just had 1 bottle about an hr ago with dinner, then she started a sobriety test
She did some hand eye co-ordination thing and I passed  Then she asked me to resite the alphabet...I asked her forwards or backwards  She got pissed and said forwards...ok so I did it, but I threw in a lil thing to confuse her...at the end I said X,Y and/or Z. She questioned it, and I said it again.
I held out my reg/ins cards and she said that it was not needed, have a good night sir....
Cops think they know everything, but if you play it smart and not get to be to much of a wise as# you can get away from almost anything....
PS...technically she could have nailed me with DWI, but she never gave me a breathliser, just a test....dumbass....
(no I do not recomend or even drink and drive, I was just anxious to get the TB on and I knew I was not going far...lol)

I tried so hard to get that in writing from Dodge, but they said they couldn't release something like that in writing from the general public. Which is stupid, because its common knowledge, but yet I cant have it in writing? :? Oh well....i told them it was impossible for my car to do that, but they went back to the whole 'fast and the furious thing' and said that it didnt look to them like my car is slow. Profiling sucks. Then the cop even got on the stand and said that he described the car as 'one of those hooked up hondas w/ a mexican driver'.... wrong on all counts

but its over and done w/ so im just glad its behind me
