My rear bumper is different than regular 03+

Alright so before I really didn't notice much of a difference since I really never looked at 03+ bumpers.

So I installed my rear mopar lip today and found this:

My rear bumper doesn't have as tall ao boobies and a license plate cubby as all the other ones that I have seen. My license plate cubby forms a "shelf" where every other one has a gradual angle down to the lower half,also the boobies do not extend past the lower dividing line in the bumper.

Any one have any information on this??

And yes the lip is installed correctly, per instructions..

hmmm i see the issue your having but never really noticed there was 2 styles of 03-05 bumpers.

Is it an oem cover?

then I thought maybe it was an early 03 bumper but I took a look at my old 03 bumper and it doesnt have a shelf like that one does.

Yes it is oem.

Manufactured march 02, didn't even have the x's on it for the lip kit.

Also has the vin sticker on it, I know for a fact that its oem.

It's an early 03 bumper... they changed them. IIRC swordfish2cowboy has one, 03sxt did for sure.

good info to know.. im working on a rear end hit at work now and its an 03. ill have to look to see and make sure it has the Correct bumper. Bet ppl over look that alot.

It's a slight difference you don't really notice at first. The give away is the boxed in lower portion of the plate box as opposed to the gentle lip the 031/2+ have. That and the boobies are like C cups instead of Ds

IMO it doesn't look as good as the newer 03 bumper with the lip..

The Certifit bumper I have is the newer style. If you want one relatively cheap.

Not that I am selling mine, but there is one near you.
