Clutch/transmission

Post by charlesh » Sun Mar 06, 2011 9:29 pm

My r/t has about 110,000 miles, and I have no idea how it was maintained before I bought it. The clutch seems to be going, and from asking around here before, I think I've got an MTX synchronizer problem (between 1st and 2nd).

So in the near future I'll have to have work done on the clutch and the transmission. The FAQs here say you can upgrade the transaxle differential and also the clutch. Do these make a big enough difference to justify the work? or is OEM just fine?

as for the differential upgrade, it all depends on your style of driving and what you plan on doing with the car. if you plan on just DD the car and drive spiritedly then the stock diff is fine (so long as you have diff tabs installed). if you plan to race it, drag, autox, etc.. then i'd upgrade the diff to an obx or quaife.
