Like a grinding, a popping, a whirring, a whining, or a mariachi band?

Check the ball joint. Try lifting the car up and moving things around to see if you can reproduce the noise.

popping/creaking when turning is usually a dry/bad ball joint.

With the wieght on the wheels, if you can wiggle the zerk or plug where the zerk was your ball joint is bad. if it doesnt move, replacing that plug with a zerk and pushing some fresh grease in is always a good idea.

EDIT: ive also put a prybar between the knuckle and lca. If you get any upward movement its bad. Try not to tear the boot.

^I replaced the stubs on mine with Zerks so I could put grease in them when I thought I had a bad balljoint. It turned out to be a slightly loose LCA bolt that allowed the arm to move and make a popping noise when I pulled away.

Could be a broken coil, but mine made nasty noises in both directions, tho returning to center was not nearly as bad. It could depend on how it breaks whether it catches both directions. Mine did not sit or feel any different than it did before it broke. I imagine if it were oem springs, you should see a change tho.

I hope it is something else than a spring tho.

A helper to turn the wheel, while you look should find the culprit. You may need to lift the body some to get a better look. I couldn't see the broken spring until I got it in the air. Then it was all too obvious.

Well you should be good then. I knew you were dropped, but wasn't sure how. I doubt you have as much spring compression. Mine was basically going into near coil bind, so the top coil end was touching the coil below it, and basically notched it enough to snap.

yea my sisters neon does that. Its prolly a ball joint or somethingin the steering rack hitting. A tire rod end makes a clunk noise

Can also be the upper bearing surface for the coil spring.

There is a bearing in the upper strut mount so that when you turn you don't bind up the coils. I know a lot of coilovers require you to reuse them but modify them. If they are broken, you could be hearing the spring itself skip on the surface instead of turn easily.

The factory upper strut mounts have a bearing in them that does go bad.

Megan coilovers have pillow ball mounts so it's not an issue here.

check your control arm bushings to man..i know the bushings in my 02 were bad this past fall and i had a really bad popping sound when i turned to the left, ended up replacing all the bushings with the energy suspension kit from modern and its all stiff as a board now!! ;)

Yeah, I was hoping that was the case with mine, but the broken spring trashed it anyways. At least the grease held all the ball bearings in place! :P
