Rear Brake Disc (rotor) swap problem

Post by rhys6r4 » Mon Mar 07, 2011 1:08 pm

I though this was an easy 5 minute job, but turns out thats not the case. I have an 02 R/T and need to change myrear discs (rotors). On the front, you remove the wheel and caliper and the disc comes off, no problem. On the rear, I remove the wheel and caliper and go to pull the disc (rotor) off and its like the e brake comes on. The e brake is off when i try this and the discs rotates freely, untill i pull on the disc it then locks. am i missing something very simple?

You may have to back the parking brake shoes off a bit so the rotor can slide off.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

nope that is very normal. Sometimes it almost feels like you have to pry it off. The e brake has to be off or you will never get it out. If its really tight to get off than go behind the backing plate and turn the star wheel adjuster till the rotor pulls off.

yep, just like regular drum brakes, if you have a lip from the shoes wearing in, then it is hitting the shoes. Like said, adjust them in, and it should clear.
