Down with the quickness - shift mod done!

Did oil change yesterday and pulled the trans pan for a fluid/filter change.

Needless to say I printed off this picture and did the suggested mods:

Now, I will warn you that if you pull the valve body down, be ready to catch the accumulators, springs, and three check balls, so best to use a trans drip pan with strainer OVER your drain pan.

I had to look at the wear marks on the separator plate to find out which accumulator went where (one has two springs).

I was lucky to have the check balls still sitting in their respectful places when I got it down, took a pic of it with my phone and made sure they went back to where they are supposed to go.

Getting it back up, balancing the accumulators on the separator plate and lining up the blind filter into it's location on the bottom of the trans while keeping the check balls in from falling out, well, it was a miracle. Hopefully you will have my luck.

Tightening the pan back up I noticed that two of the bolt holes were stripped. I know I didn't do it because I simply ran them up with a hand ratchet to the pan rail and then went around torquing them, those two did not torque, and pulled the threads out. Fingers crossed that it doesn't leak..

Now does this work? Yes.

Will it shift like a Crown Vic with the J-Mod done? No.

Why not? Shifts are still mainly controlled by the TCM IIRC...

Would I do it again? Hell yeah!

If it works, but not like the J-Mod, and the shifts are still mainly controlled by the TCM...what exactly is the point of this?

It does show a noticeable difference in shift speed, but it is not a neck-breaking shift like the J mod tends to be.
