Magnum Gt3076r Turbo! Need help from pro's!

Post by haseebgill12 » Tue Mar 22, 2011 2:21 pm

car: Neon r/t
Ok guys im new to 2gn but im certainly not a noob (not a complete one anyway lol)
Im planning on doing the first turbo neon in the UK and have stocked up some parts already.
I will be running boost on the stock bottom end for a while but will be upgrading to forged internals and new clutch fairly soon after. (ultimate goal is 400 whp)
Here is a list of what ive got/buying.
I need input from the pros of what else i need or what else is recommended.

First list is stock bottom end. second is built.

Garret gt3076r dbb turbo (running about 9psi)
Asp SOHC log manifold with 38mm WG flange
Tial 38mm Wastegate
Ebay boost controler
Custom downpipe
SRT4 FMIC
AGP upper hard pipe with turbo XS bov (from MPX)
SRT4 injectors (mopar stage 1 577cc)
SRT4 Stock Fuel Rail
SRT4 Full exhaust (everything from downpipe and back)
Lorenzo Fuel Systems throttle body
Ngk Irridium sparkplugs
Granatteli Sparkplug wires
MSD ignition coil Pack
Megasquirt (from symtechlabs)
Walbro Fuel pump
Fidanza Cam Gear
Mopar exhaust manifold gasket (from mpx)

(tell me if im missing something please!)

Additional upgrades for big power
MPX complete bottom end rebuild kit:
JE Pistons & Rings
Crower Forged Connecting Rods
Mopar Rod Bearings & Main Bearings
Mopar Oil Pan Gasket
Mopar Rear Main Seal
Melling Oil Pump

Lorenzo fuel rail
Bigger injectors? (which ones)
Competition Clutch Stage 5 Sprung Sport Compact Clutch Kits for the Neon OR Competition Clutch Stage 4 Sprung Sport Compact Clutch Kits for the Neon (really need advice on this one!! will these clutches still be "drivable" will the stage 4 be easier to drive? )
what else?

Thanks guys would really appreciate some advice from those in the know.

I cant say im not suprised! never thought i would see someone else from the uk!!

Well apparently one of the good points turboing the r/t is that the cam is alot better than the stock neon i think it is equivalent to the Crane 12 grind. But dont quote me on it :)

Get a sprung 6-puck clutch of your choice. I carry the clutchmasters stuff now if that's what you desire.

Thanks for the reply eric. So are my lists "ok" ? and what will be the difference/benefits of 6 puck vs 4 puck for example.

6 puck will be more fun to drive on the street. A 4 puck holds about the same power, but is grabbier and slips less. More of a race clutch.

That all depends on how well it's tuned. Keep it rich and keep the boost pretty low until you get the hang of it.

That all depends on how much power. RC makes great stuff in the <= 750cc range. I myself am using the ID2000s.

And will the injectors you have mentioned fit the neon without mods or adaptors?

You need a spacer or some washers to make them fit in a neon. I think I can get them with the spacers included in the RCs though.

Thanks for the Info Eric. I'l be sure to hit you up when im getting my big boost upgrades. So the Mopar stage 1's i have will be adequate for the low boost setting (9 psi)? . Could i safely run 250-260 bhp (at the engine) on the stock bottom end?

Yes, that is correct. Those injectors come from a car that can make just shy of that power stock with an excessively rich tune.

Yes. You would only need about 7-8psi to make that happen.

When you buy it from Symtech, just go on their website and download a tune file to get started on, and look on msextra.com for lots more info.
